Five Minute Friday-Opportunity
YAY! Five Minute Friday is back. One of my bloggy goals this year is to take part more often in these wonderful prompts. If you have not yet visited Lisa-Jo Baker at The Gypsy Mama, I highly encourage you to do so. She is funny and refreshing and these Friday link-ups have opened a door to so many wonderful bloggers out there!
Set the timer for 5 minutes and write-without editing-what comes to your mind when you see the one word prompt. Join in and if you do, be sure to visit the blog before and/or after your link up!
The first prompt of 2013:
OPPORTUNITY
Ephesians 5:16 is what came to my mind as soon as i saw this word: OPPORTUNITY.
“…making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
Wow. Those are pretty powerful words. When I look at them they give me shivers in my spine because I know i do not respond in this way on a regular basis.
I know there are many opportunities I miss throughout the day. Moments to show grace and love towards people I meet up with–especially my two boys at home. Moments to extend forgiveness to those i feel have “wronged” me somehow. Moments where I know my anger has won out when the driver behind me is just a bit too close in the rear view.
Missed moments of representing Jesus to someone…sometimes a LOT of “someone’s”.
Making the BEST use of my time for His kingdom. Sigh…i am so far from that it is almost as if I have no concept or real belief/understanding that heaven is real…and that hell is too. And that the opportunities I have missed or messed up could possibly have been one to share that truth to someone. The hope that *I* have MUST be lived because these evil days are not gonna get any better.
There is grace for me though. Grace in the face of missed opportunities because He is just that kind of God. He will never force Himself on me to do “His will”, but I need to be more aware of the opportunities He sends my way in the midst of the hurrying about getting to Dr appointments, shopping, even house keeping…making an opportunity to look the other way when the kid runs in from the snow on the newly mopped floor. {WHO mops a floor when it snows, I ask you???}. Or then…
STOP
So, there she is!

yes, thankful for grace!! and then new opportunities!!
Making the most of my opps is surely a trial :0).New opportunities outside of my “home” are something I have sought for what feels like a long time…then when He presents them I get scared and timid…imagine! ME??? Timid??? Here’s to a year full of opps….and cawfee chats!
So very very grateful that He is just that kind of God!!! Great post! (and yes… stop mopping!)
What would we do without our God! Thanks for stopping by. The mopping!!!!!!!!!!!! I am about to give up!
Oh, yes. We all miss many opportunities. But Oh, God’s deep grace! So thankful for it!
